Industrial Wastewater Treatment

Pacifica Paper, Powell River, British Columbia

The original plant was built 1909 - 1912. In April 1912 it produced the first roll of Canadian newsprint west of Ontario. In 1981 it was producing 220 tonnes of paper per day.

Pacifica Paper, prides themselves on their continuous improvement in environmental performance.

Liquid effluents are fully treated with natural occurring bacteria. Odor and particulates are controlled to minimize discharges. Solid wastes are recycled and reused as much as possible and residuals are placed in engineering landfills for safe disposal.
