A Canadian civil engineer, Sylvie Béland, is developing interface structures that will guarantee safe delivery of the Canadian Special Purpose Dextrous Manipulator (hand) to the International Space Station. It is essentially the hand of the Canadarm. These interface structures will help the robot to support the vibration loads at take-off as well as temperature fluctuation from minus 100 degrees Celsius to plus 100 degrees Celsius.
