Great Wall of China

Built in 770 - 476 BC as protection against nomadic tribes and northern barbarians, the Great Wall of China is the longest structure ever built. The wall begins at Shanhai-kuan on the east coast of China and ends at Chhi-lien Shan on the Gobi Desert. It is about 3200 km long and is the only structure on earth that can be seen from space.

Close to 40,000 towers stand along the Wall. Some sections also have moats and trenches.
